My computer plays music files fine with no problem, but when i play video files, they lag and skip, and the audio is crackly. I've tried playing these exact videos on other computers and they work fine. All my drivers are up to date and i have k-lite codecs (supposedly the best codecs pack out there). Any idea what i could do to make the videos play well?

Those symptoms tell me that you may not be using an AGP or a PCI-Express video card.

Hopefully, your computer can support at least an AGP card otherwise you're stuck with the "integrated video" which works fine until you try to play video.
