LMAO! I know what you mean. They also have that accent in Boston. When I hear a person with that accent, I think what the **** are you talking about! Like let's go to the bar. They will say, lets go to the baaah. What the **** is a baaah???

where to begin...First off, it's not only Long Islanders that say CAH...Rhode Islanders and people from eastern Massachusetts do this as well. Second have you ever heard a person from England pronounce the word Car? Third where the hell are you from? I'm assuming it's a state that has a very poor public education system which explains your very ignorant post.

IT is because they have a long tongue. Islanders are known to grow a bigger tongue than others. On Galveston island where I live, people's tongue is on average 1/3 inch taller than in Houston. So this extra length comes out as a speech impediment that gives them a funny accent.
