Qualified camera techs are pretty rare these days even in urban areas. So I would suggest that you either check with a local TV / electronics repair shop, ship the camcorder out to an independent service center, or send it back to the manufacturer for repairs.

Hold on......1st of all how old is the camera, if its still under warranty you may just need to ship it or drop it off to a local AUTHORIZED repair facility. If its kind of old, and no more warranty available it might be better financially to purchase a newer camera using the money you woukld use towards the repairs of an older one. Most places might charge you $60 -$100 just to open it up and see whats wrong with it. If they dont include that in with the repair and its another $150 - 200 for repairs, you can get the cheapest JVC MiniDV camcorder for that. Plus once a cameara has been repaired, if it was done correctly will last maybe another year or so beofre teh same problem or a new one surfaces. If wasn't done correctly or there was something else wrong that didn't show up, repair places may only guarantee their work for 30 days and it will be after the 30 days when you notice the problem or the new problem wasn't identified and thus woul;dn't be covered in the warranty. Best suggestion is to seriosuly consider buying a new, better camera. You might even get more features than you have on your existing camera for the same price you paid ( or even cheaper) if you just buy a new one. Another suggestion, shell out those extra $$ for extended service plan ( not extended warranty) so you'll be worry free in the future. the extended service at Circuit City or Best Buy offer much more than just warranty coverage. They cover basic warranty but also save you the expense of looking for and sending the items should they need work, to facility, as well as fixing and cleaning the camcorder once a year.
