In Chinese culture, they signify power. Uncontrollable power usually. In Fung Shui, it is very unwise to be influenced by a dragon's force.
Here in Hong Kong, the only people who have dragon tattoo's are those sad w*nkers, the triads. Wannabe punks. So if you want to be known for your boringly predictable behaviour and inability to fight, get one.

I have two dragons one black and one red on my arm and i have them because i think its looks good and i like them and so does everyone else i show it to, i also like the meaning of power etc,
and erm no im no wannabe triad look at how many people in england are starting to get them :P

Dragons are sometimes know for protection rather than destruction. Most 'pagan' dragons ended up being killed by Christian knights and so forth.
