This stems from lower self esteem and lack of confidence in oneself. I am deaf too. I mean so what if people say rude or negative things behind my back. This is beyond my control. I can only control the lasting impressions I leave on people, that is one thing you can control is how you present and treat others which in turn will earn you respect. What you put out comes back to you.
So if people are saying negative things about you behind your back, it is done out of ignorance. You already know who you are and nothing can change that fact. What people say do not become the truth of who you are, right?
Just be thankful we do not have to hear rude, negative comments behind our backs. They just roll off like water and have absolutely no effect on us. Those who speak negatively about others will only get the same thing back at them because this is the law of karma.
So relax and just be yourself without worries about others opinions. Be the change you want to see within.

If they take advantage of the fact that you are deaf to mock you, then they really are pathetic. Such people's comments cannot possibly be of any significance. I doubt that it happens often, as it would appear an extremely distasteful thing to do to anyone with any sense of decency. So if anyone is doing this, you shouldn't do anything, because someone else will pick them up over it quite soon. In fact, if anyone says anything derogatory, you have the advantage that they can't tell if you have realised this. Give 'em enough rope...

Honey don't worry about what other people think. Try to build your self confidence a little so your not so bothered by other peoples ignorance. There is nothing wrong with being deaf. I admire the courage most people have who live with a disability, who are able to persevere. Be strong and find happiness!

You should be confident. You should not worry about what other people around you think. As long as you know that you are a good person, don't let others get you down. I'm sure you have enough people in your life that care about you, and that you care about back. It's those people that matter. People who have nothing else better to do with their time than to talk about someone that they don't even know anything about, don't even diserve the time to be thought of. Be yourself...and be proud of who you are!!

anyone who would talk behind your back is not nice or a friend, but don't worry about them I have friends who are deaf and I enjoy being around them even if I can't sign they can read my writing, just go on with your life and have fun, don't worry about them, sounds to me like they wish they have what you have. Hope this gives you something good to think about.

People say rude things behind everyone's back, it is a sad fact of life, so don't think it is just you. Do what I do and ignore them.

My sister is deaf to and I have learned it doesn't matter what you disability is people are going to be rude and say mean things no matter what. They say these things to make themselves feel better. Just let it roll of your shoulders and you know who really loves you and that's all you need.

Pray for them and Ignore them for they are the ignorant and uneducated, and somewhat stupid and cruel. This type of individual you don't give a second thought to any negative remarks or criticism. Just pray for them, and if they say something to you. Tell them you feel sorry for their lack of compassion, but you pray they will be inspired to think about there remarks.
