we have a cockatiel and he eats everything we eat. well... we give him bird food but when were eating a meal he flies up on the table and loves to take some of our food off our plate. he also will stand on the edge of a glass (of drink) and swoop his head down to drink it. it sounds kinda gross but heh were used to it. anyways i dont think its bad our bird has been doing this since he was a baby and he is now 8 years old. he is also strong and healthy-- he got outside the two nights ago. we thought he would be dead because it was about 40 degrese. we called the animal warden of our city and she said some construction workes found him about an hour ago and were feeding him. we found out it was our bird and he was 2 miles away from our house.

Birds pose very little health risk to humans in the form of diseases – the Center or Disease Control has all the information you would need on that subject. There are actually more forms of disease birds can contract from us than we can contract from them.
Certain foods can be unhealthy for birds. Onions, chocolate and avocado are among a few that pose a large risk. Sugar and fat should also be avoided and dairy isn’t usually part of their natural diet as well.

Well, yeah. Birds shouldn't eat salty food, so out goes the chips. Chocolate is bad for dogs and it's probably bad for birds, too--it can kill dogs (and birds are waaaayyyy smaller.) Don't let the bird have sugary drinks, especially with caffeine. Bad for animals.
If you want to give your bird a little fruit or maybe a nut, you can try that. A few greens, maybe a little carrot. But don't let the bird eat *with* you--birds have nasty mouths and you can get gross bird diseases! Ewwwww!

Chocolate is very very bad.. Total no no.. The bird should already be dead by now ..
My girl friend put salt around her birds cage thinking it would keep the mites out and it killed the bird.
I do give both of my birds a frenchfry every now and then and they do eat food from my plate when they can catch me not looking. But I normally just give them a bite on their own spoon.

It all depends on what you eat, and from the sound of it, the diet you are on isn't very healthy for either of you.
A huge no to chocolate. Lay off the salt. Lay off the fried stuff. The caffeine has to go. No avocado...ever.
If it is good for you, it is good for your bird. Essentially everything you said you eat isn't real healthy for you. So it's not good for your bird.
Share a salad with your budgie. Let her have a bit of your scrambled egg. Nuts with no salt are good. How about some apple? Melon? All good.
And I would venture to guess she is getting a ton of preservatives in all this food as well. Not good At All.
Keep it healthy, "salad-like" and free of salt and you can share.

Choclate is very TOXIC to parrots, salt sugar and caffine also should not be given to a bird, along with avacados, and fruit seed or pit. Google toxic foods for parrots and you will get loads of info on what you should not feed your pet bird.

do not feed your bird human food. this will cause serious problem even death to your pet. your bird has bonded with you, therefore wants to try everything you do. surprised the chocolate has not killed it already. this is deadly to a bird. a very few things is not going to harm the bird, items with grains for instance. human food is a very bad idea tho. please stop allowing your bird to do this, it will cause severe problems.

chocolate is on the list for poisons to birds. Caffine is in chocolate, and that too is poisonous. They do love chips, but try to get unsalted ones for her.

My cockatiel used to insist I share my chocolate chip ice cream with her. She didn't eat much. And she didn't care for any other people food. But she would peck me if I refused. It never hurt her.
