Its a fine place, Very busy and diverse, which is why you wanted to go to New York City in the first place, right ??? If you want to fit in... were a Mets cap through October! and practice saying "Lets go Mets !!!"
Buy a monthly Metro Card and a holder for it, so it don't get beat up by 12 months of it coming in and out of your pocket.
See if your company does Transit-Check, you can pay for your Monthly Unlimited Metro card right from your paycheck with PRE-TAX $$$. Then the buses and subways will be yours !

in basic terms including some records right here...I stay contained in the section. often times the station closes because of the fact there is ongoing shape on the 7 Line in Queens. If there is once you're there, get the #32 Bus in the time of Roosevelt highway from the prepare station to 61st highway. it would be useful out proper in front of the elevator which will take you to the value tag workplace for the LIRR...in basic terms get out on the precise floor.

i live near jackson heights-- it isn't that bad. it's a good place to live. you're so close to 5 different subway lines and it's only like 15-20 minutes to midtown. it's definitely ethnically diverse, so you can have a different type of meal everyday. so yeah, it was a good choice.
