My geography teacher was telling us about this place, I think it was a country, where a volcano erupted and people were running away from it, but the ash and heat from the lava killed them mid-flee and consumed them, and now you can see perfect sculptures of the people.
What country was this?

i had no idea but was reading the answers and most people have said Pompei in Italy. now i learned something too :)

pompei? there were several. national geographic has many videos at the public library about several islands/ countries...go check it out. did your teacher hand out books? handouts? were you listening?
