No one who hasn't been through it will ever know what it is like. Take your son to the nearest VA hospital to see a psychiatrist. It sounds like he has PTSD and VA hospitals are very good at treating it since that is what 90 percent of their patients have. Most of the employees are veterans or spouses of veterans and the providers all have lots of experience treating PTSD.
Here is the website to help you find a hospital near you. Treatment for service connected disabilities is usually free and he may be eligible for disability benefits including re-adjustment counseling to help him get back to work.

The general public does not understand what military people go through in war. Your son really needs to see someone for his physical, mental and emotional well being. The treatment is free. Until he gets proper treatment, you can be there to listen, which it sounds like is the case already. He will tell you the same things repeatedly but listen anyway. He has to get it out. People are changed forever after being in a war zone. Tell your family members to listen also. Just to be there for him. My very best to you and your son.

No unless they have also been there and done it/saw it too. I know a lot of peoplle who's kids come home the way you described. Can you get him some counseling? I know it's too much to expect the government to help with as they won't even protect them well enough while in the war. Good Luck "mom" and may God bless you both!!!

I don't think any of us will ever know what it's like unless we've been there. Does he have any friends he served with nearby? Or maybe he could find other vets in the area. They're the only ones who will be really understanding of what he's going through. Or a therapist who specializes w/ vets... Good Luck.

Your son is very brave and thank him for protecting his country. he has done a most honorable deed, He is probably suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome, this usually happens to people who come back from war. just be there for him, and see if you can get him some professional help, it may be hard, but it's worth a try. he deserves it. Good Luck, and god bless you both.

I think the men who have to go to war,are somewhat scared, panick and terrified if theyre going to make it home. Its sad because men are fighting for there country, and mothers are suffering from the death of there loved ones.
Your son may have had it bad while he was there.
