you saw in the movie rocky he ate like 7 raw eggs before his jog in the movie. does it give you selmonella or not??? can someone back up their opinion with facts or websites?

It can give you salmonella. It is found on the egg shell, and with raw eggs, it is hard to avoid the contact of the egg with the shell. When heat treated (boiled) then the risk is greatly reduced.
Eggs doesn't contain all the amino acids that your body needs. It is reach in lysine, but not in other proteins. Movies are full of myths. Have you ever watched Myth Busters? It's a TV show. A bunch of guys are trying to actually perform the tricks and stunts that movies show. Well, most of those tricks have no scientific ot technical basis. Same deal here. If one tries to eat 7 eggs a day, he's likely to get sick with heart or liver desease if not with salmonella. Yeah, due to the level of my education I no longer enjoy some sertain movies.

With eggs and all other raw foods from animals, there is a small possibility of Salmonella food poisoning. The risk is greater for those who are pregnant, elderly or very young and those with medical problems which have impaired their immune systems. These individuals should avoid raw and undercooked animal foods.
Healthy people need to remember that there is a very small risk and treat eggs and other raw animal foods accordingIy. Use only properIy refrigerated, clean, sound-shelled, fresh, Grade AA or A eggs. Avoid mixing yolks and whites with the shell. Refrigerate broken-out eggs, prepared egg dishes and other foods if you won't be consuming them within an hour.

Chances are that you won't get Salmonella. The raw bit is simply ease in ingesting all of that protein. If you've ever tried to eat 7 hard boiled eggs, you know what I'm talking about.

Raw eggs are not safe to drink down like Rocky did in the movie. Of course, in the movie those were not real eggs. You have to cook eggs before eating them. That's why it isn't safe to eat cookie dough, it has raw egg in it. Good Luck! :)

Yes, they can give you samonella. That's because they are kept on the shelf's longer and the organism is more likely to grow. So, it's safer to cook the eggs and not take that chance. Look up samonella and you will see the causes. Also, uncooked eggs, maybe it comes from the chickenss.... good luck.
