Im running windows xp professional, and am the admin. (please note, i am no programmer, however, i am not a pc newb, i just have not been able to figure out how to undo this, or what i did. and i know it aint a virus cuzz i did it to my mom's pc too by accident)

Is it possible you simply moved the separator bar and "hid from view" the buttons?

Look at the taskbar. Do you see a vertical bar about 1/4" high and only 1/16" wide? When you hold the mouse over it do you see a double-headed arrow? Try dragging it one way or the other.

Right-click on a blank spot on the taskbar and select "properties." Carefully check the options.

One more thought - Have you right-clicked on a clean spot on the Taskbar (right next to Start is good), and select Properties, then click "show quick launch."

Well, your really tinkering with the system here..... have you tried system restore to yesterday? The other thing is that I believe that's turned on in services..... you might want to try looking at www.virtualdr.com and asking your question as the answer is probably already there...... You might want to search for Task Manager help......

try restarting your computer, it should bring the tabs back. You most likely just turned off the program that makes them appear.
