A dear friend of mine has quickly fallen for a man 16 years older than she, and my husband and I can tell by things she tells us about him that he is dishonest and uncaring, although she may not admit it. She knows we don't agree with her choice, but she says it's "too late" she's "in love." I'm so afraid of him becoming abusive and hurting her, physically and mentally. Any advice?

Hi there look this situation sounds rather complicated. You need to make her aware of the impression that your getting off her by the way she talks about her partner, politely inform her that you and your partner feel that she could find herself in trouble. always make sure that you let her know that you are always there for her to talk to about anything, not matter what the topic. if you address the situation and give you feelings on it she might open up and spill the beans on her emotions. bring up in conbversations that no women deserves to be treated wrongly or feel that ther is no trust there between her and her partner.just make it sound like your just descussing that topic don't direct it at her.

hope that helps a little

If you've already talked to her about your opinion on the subject there isn't much you can do about it, except try to be there for her when she needs you. You could try helping her to "accidentally" met a new guy or two. Yknow taking her out on a girls night maybe, with the okay of your husband of course. It might be worth a shot. Unless you know that he is being physically abusive or if you become aware of it, then I would involve the authorities right away. I hope everything works out. Good luck.

Other than expressing how you felt, there is little you can do, especially since she's an adult. You've made your feelings clear and the more you push, the more she'll run into his arms. It's her mistake to make unfortunately, and suck as it does to watch a good friend fall, always remember to tell her that you're there for her no matter what. I hope she comes to her senses though. Good luck!

The only thing you can do after warning and speaking strongly to your friend is to be there for her if ever the need arise. The saying goes we can take a horse to water but we cannot make them drink holds true. Be there for her and hope for the best.

If you can afford it, hire one of the agencies that catches cheaters. Get a video of him going after another woman. If you can get that, she will wake up in a hurry. If you can't do that tell her the truth, even if she doesn't want to hear it. Then at least you tried to tell her.

as a friend all you can do is give her advice and hope she follows it.

all the same, as a true friend all you can do is sit back and wait to pick her up when she falls.
