Dont download Norton or McAfee. They're all ****** up. If possible download Computer Associates. It's really good. But I'm not sure it's free or not. I got it free with my verizon connection. If u want, I can give it to u.

I second Avast - I experimented with a few, found Avast as good as any and better then many. I've been using it for nearly a year and still think it is great. It has regular automatic updates. Highly recommended!

AVG seems the most popular.
Not necessarily the best though. Good at finding infections but less good at removing them.

Avast is good (someone else already provided a link). I also recommend AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5). It is easy to install, easy to keep up to date, and FREE!

you might want adaware by lavasoft, i use that instead of mcafee or norton.
