Ringside.com has a pretty good selection to choose from, but if you want the best go with Cleto Reyes, which are available through Ringside or Grant.com, which are not available through Ringside.com. These gloves in my opinion, are the very best that you can buy, they are high quality gloves and both are hand stitched and made in Mexico.
There is also a glove that Winning.com makes they are Japanese gloves that seem to pay a lot of attention to knuckle padding. These gloves are about the most expensive you can buy.
Sunshine, let your dad tell you what size glove he wants, it's his hands and he knows what he likes. I pefer hitting the bag with 10oz gloves, but when I was training for a bout I would bump up to 14oz gloves and I always sparred with 14oz gloves, from Freddie Roaches Wild Card Gym in LA to Gleasons Gym in New York the fighter decides what gloves he will wear when working out.
You can go to these sites yourself and determine which ones you think he would like, you can't go wrong with any of the above mentioned. Good luck Sunshine!

Sunshine, I forgot to mention, Stay away from sporting good stores, all they sell is complete garbage. Everlast is waste of money.

Get the ones that lace up...grant makes a solid pair

Also, what is he using them for? If he's just hitting the heavy bag 12oz gloves work....if he is using them for sparring, he will need 14 or 16oz...cuz most gyms dont let you spar with smaller gloves for damage control.

I would recommend going to like sports authority or academy sports. A sales person can guide you to durable ones that will work great.
