i own a repair shop, and its not the heater, i have one in the shop right now working on it,and it don't have the heater on it, there is a 0-2 sensor that will cause it to do this though, and there is also a temperature sensor that sends a signal to the computer and tells if the engine is warm, and if it goes bad it runs in by pass mode all the time ,the engine will not get to use the signals sent from the computer ,,it stays on bypass mode all the time, and this will cause it to run bad idle bad and die sometimes on you,but vapor lock,,no,i don't know who told you this, but It wont cause it to vapor lock,,you need to take it in,and have it scanned for trouble codes ,and see what is i the computer ,,it keeps a good record of all the problems it encounters,id take it and have it checked ,all any of us here can do is guess,if i could see and hear it run i could repair it,i been at it for 36 yrs, good luck,i hope this help,s.

code 15 coolant temp switch, in the manifold will give this symptom, do you have a check engine light on ? if so you need the codes out of the vehicle, but I have run into this a hundred times and it was always the computer switch temp the censer, with the two wires on it, the engine temp guage has one wire OK, anything with two wires one goes to the computer, so..........

It could be either your crank sensor or cam sensor! Is the check engine light coming on? If it is they it is easier to pin point which one it is otherwise you have to check the resistance of each sensor with a ohm meter! The sensor could be on its way out! Have it checked out. Good luck!

It could be many things. You need to pull diagnostic codes out of the van. You can do it manually if you have a Repair manual to walk you through it. That condition should be making a trouble code, so you need to retrieve it and go on from there.

Could also be an oxygen sensor or the EGR valve. A good mechanic with the proper equipment should be able to tell you pretty quickly.
