Film was invented in 1894. French actress Louise Willy was filmed nude in 1896. It probably wouldn't qualify as pornography today, but people were shocked back then. It seems most film historians agree they don't really know when the genre began, but it's very soon after the very first films.

It is sorta funny how they came to be...and the times...the ultra straightlaced Victorian era...actually there was a lot more going underneath those whaleboned corsets and three pieced suits than would meet the eye here and in Europe.
