¿Y cómo es él?, again, literally translated would be: how is he? but that is not what you want to ask. What you really want to say is: how is he like?... there is a huge difference in the context
Did you take it from the song "¿Y cómo es él?"?
Hey, you are not asking it but here it comes a piece of advice: when it is about Spanish, better ask a native Spanish speaker... it is like if I was asked about English... ouch! I am sure I would be wrong several times.
