When you speak to representives always get their answer in writing whether it's via email or in the postal mail. Truely investigate this matter and take it as high up as you need to.

if you still have your recipt you need to tell the company that's asking for the money that you already made a settlement payment for your amount. If you do not have it I am pretty sure they can see it in the fle or they would be asking for the entire thing. Just explain the situation to them. You really should have gotten a letter statinf that the debt was paid in full.

i had somewhat similar experience in USA at a hospital. A secretary at one of the medical departments was telling me that if i had my procedure done by their doctor and paid them one month in advance they will give me a discounted rate of $750, however if deadline passed then there will be no discount. I talked to a lady in their accounts and finance department and she was very helpful and told me if i took one of their packages then the doctor's fee would be included in that , which turned out to be a lot less than $750.
So you need to find the right person to talk to about your situation. i am sure there is someone there who will listen and understand and explain to you.

Collection agency's are like fighting pit bulls, they just don't give up. They ruin your credit, and sell the debt to other agency's. Even if you do pay that might haunt you for years.

do you have anything in writing that says if you paid the discounted price the rest of the loan would be forgiven?.... if not, i dont see them helping you.

I'd answer your question but what do I know, I'm one of those silly ignorant people who believes Halloween has nothing to do with Satan.
