Now THAT is a reality show, and I would love to watch it (but not in surroundsound because people do get loud) You really should send that idea to like FOX and CBS and stuff--you might even get some kind of credit or kickbacks for it

I do not know what is there to fight shy of such discussions. The inter-religious and even irreligious(atheists) open discussions had been a practice widely prevalent in India. Even King Ashoka officially held such conferences.Partly this may be due to the more liberal attitude of Indians to respect even thouse canvassing atheism as philosphers. In fact the six India 'darshan"(sytems of thought) begin with refutation of atheist thought of Charvak, the atheist, who is honoured as a preceptor. The open discussion between Shankaracharya in favour of renunciation and Mandan Mishta who favoured family life are well known and when Mandan Mishta began to fall back his wife nonplussed Shankar with some very embaressing questions. We shold certainly encourage such dialogue through all media-tv,radio,papers,schools,colleges.As a Sanskrit aphorism goes The truth is revealed only through dialogue".

No! We have no common ground on which to debate. Christians base what they believe on the Bible and faith, Atheists base their beliefs on science and human reason. They will just end up stating their opinions and neither can prove to the other what they believe. Christian viewers will side with the Christians and Atheistic viewers will side with the Atheists. Just a waste of time.

I'd watch it; it would be amusing.
I'd also love to see a Muslims and Pagans debate Christians in different debates.

Yes! That would be really neat. Except it would be just like politics. Those of one persuasion would rail against the other and vice versa and nobody would change there mind. Or would they? Will the liberals allow for freedom of thought thru debate? I highly doubt it.

why not as this would be a definitely interesting debate as long as there was discussion and no arguments. along with the respecting of all concerned for the free will of everyone to believe as they see fit.

Been tried...
MM O'Hare debated several prominent denominational preachers and defeated them BECAUSE THEY DID NOT BELIEVE OR FOLLOW THE SCRIPTURES. She consistently refused to debate TRUE CHRISTIANS because her technique would be unsuccessful. As a skilled student of the Bible she easily defeated those who CLAIMED to follow it, but IT TRUTH denied much of it.

Well there is no right or wrong ,no better or worse religion its just a religion thet people choose. i dont think you should debate on television because there are many people who are c. and A people will get hurt if you say something about thier religion.

The Christians would win. Atheism is not a sound religion. Yes, you heard me call atheism a religion. But it is! You have to BELIEVE there is no God to be an athiest, and therefore that is a religion! At least us Christians admit ours is a religion.
