Which is correct?
On the one hand, christians complain that original sin does seem fair. "We are responsible for something people did centuries ago?"
On the other hand, christians seem to hold no responsebility for the Crusades, torture of nonchritians, etc, which occured centuries ago.
Which point of view is right and which is wrong?

don't you dare try to worm your way out of this one by blaming the catholics. Christians (not catholics) have killed and tortured nonchristians for years. Many nonchristians were burned, boiled, ripped up, etc by noncatholic christians.

There has been some misunderstanding about 'original sin' for a long time. I'm not responsible for Adam's sin, I'm just partaking of the punishment for it (being born apart from God). (read Romans 5, If you like . . it talks about death entering the world by the sin of ONE MAN . . . I had nothing to do with it) It's like somebody who commits a crime and is put in exile. If they have a child, they are born in exile, as well . . but not because of anything they did but are partaking of the punishment of their parent. I am perfectly responsible for all of my actions. I'm not responsible for anything that ANYBODY does, except for me.
I hope this helps, at least a little.
If you want, I can go into why we all sin because of that first sin but it didn't seem needed, at this time. You can contact me, if you want to . . .

The orignial sin, commited by Adam, the father of the human race, caused the seed of sin to be implanted in the seed of man. It is not that we are responsible for his sin, but that, by him sin entered into the world.
The crusades are wrongly attributed to Christianity, when in fact, they were perpetrated by the Roman Catholic Church, under Pope Urban II, who was not a Christian. He personally promoted a Holy Crusade to reclaim the Holy Lands from the barbarian Turks. Thus, the First Crusade was launched in 1096 A.D. It was divided into the four Crusader States of Antioch, Edessa, Tripoli and Jerusalem. It was a small stretch of land that was steeped in religious heritage and held the promise of bestowing riches upon the men who could control the "land flowing in milk and honey". Bishops locally preached against this, and some were attacked for their preaching. The Bishop of Spier¹ saved many lives, but at Worms the Bishop was driven from his home and the Jews he sheltered were slaughtered. Same thing at the town of Mainz. The Bishops could not stop Peter's army. They continued their rage across Europe to Constantinople.

I don't think that people here and now should be responsible for something that happened with other people long ago. We make our own choices as individuals, not as a group, race, or sex. I am a Christian and I hope everyone realizes that not all Christians are hellfire and damnation. Some are peaceful, loving and good. Live and let live that's what I say, but I will tell you what I know about God in a loving, gentle way. God Bless you!

Original Sin is necessary for Christianity. Without Original Sin, Jesus' death becomes nothing more than the execution of a first-century Jewish reformer crucified for sedition. With no Original Sin, Christian doctrine would allow you to enter heaven by following the Laws of the Torah. Without Original Sin, Jesus can't be called "the second Adam". Interestingly, however, is that Judaism, the faith Christianity claims it is based off of, has no concept, and has had no concept of Original Sin.

See, here you go, lumping all of us together as thinking the same thing. I, personally, do not believe its fair we all have to pay for Adam and Eve's mess up. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if its fair or not, it is. I didn't eat the flamin fruit and I didn't participate in the crusades or the inquisition, yet all you people keep blaming us for it. Unless we're immoratals, we didn't do any of it, yet we're getting blamed for it. Eve ate the fruit, so I had to suffer with horrible childbirth pain 3 times, and get to grow older everyday, arthritis, grey hair, etc., so no, I don't get the fairness. That's life.

The Muslims were the first crusaders, then the Catholics started their crusades.
Christians are not crusaders.

There have been those who got free already// Original sin is believing you are apart from God. It is made every moment by those that go with their ego-mind (devil, apple=judgement). Regaining Christ Consiousness is the way out of this "dream" or unconscious state we are all in..God gives us the way out, it has not been understood by many yet.. Also that man (I think Jesus Christ may be Adam) makes it right not just for himself, and not just for the original sin, but for all sins that we have piled up on top as well.. Remember Adam lived a heck of a lot longer than we nowadays showing he was still closer to God than we are now!!! We have been falling more in consciousness since then, buster...
People are to blame for all bloodshed. Or rather they have the karmic strings that go along with the cycle of violence and revenge...Not just Christians, although it is more terrible a lot of it has been done in God's name They need to ask for forgiveness. Me, I'm thinking of the native americans, but is is all bloodshed by all people (ones that call themselves Christians or not) Where more blood was shed, there will be greater disaster, the earth will cleanse as we need to cleanse..It works like that//The whole thing is more energetic/spiritual then most people see it..Christ spoke of the greater mysteries, yet many do not believe there are any.. In the bible we can find how we free ourselves of these karmic ties, it is our past holding us back and Christ is offering to free you of the karma...Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, the situation gets repeated in this life and you have to keep your reactions of the tests in check.. (Do not resort to anger or unforgiving attitudes as you work yourself in deeper..)
I have been in judgement now for awhile. Some things do seem unfair, like they try to throw slavery on me (and I am of mixed blood). After all the accuser is the devil (ego-mind) and who ever said he was fair..God is just trying to save us from that crap. Christ tells me to "just get it through" the energies, sometimes I do not know what it is that is transmuted through my body..
This said Christ believes in innocence and God is only Love. It is by making other things than Love our God we change "our God"//I prefer a loving God//In heaven Love comes first,,
Love

All sins have lasting consequences ... some more than others.
Original sin had the effect of forever enslaving mankind to Satan, until God himself intervened on our behalf.
And if you haven't noticed, the Crusades are still being fought, today.
The only correct point of view is to try to avoid all types of sin, thereby avoiding the consequences as well.
It's easier said than done, so God expects us to forgive, if we ourselves want to be forgiven.
