Which is correct?
On the one hand, christians complain that original sin does seem fair. "We are responsible for something people did centuries ago?"

On the other hand, christians seem to hold no responsebility for the Crusades, torture of nonchritians, etc, which occured centuries ago.

Which point of view is right and which is wrong?

Not all christians believe in original sin. In fact if you read the bible Jesus the Christ spoke against it. The bible was interpreted by man for man. Much was left out because it was considered to hold women in high regard. A good example of this is the the Gospel of Mary. Many of the disciples were jealous of the love that Jesus had for her. In fact Christianity is based on what Mary witnessed which was Jesus being resurrected from the dead. Babies are born innocent it is theworld that corrupts them as they grow.

I don't think it's right for Christians to denounce others when Christianity has more blood on its hands than any other religion in modern times.

So to answer your question, I'd have to say that the second point of view is wrong, mainly because they dismiss the facts of the Crusades and the Inquisition.

We are not "responsible" for Original Sin. We simply suffer the consequences of it because it fundamentally altered the relationship between God and the human race.

As for other sins which people have committed, the individuals who commited them were fully responsible, not people living centuries later who happen to be members of the same church. Am I personally responsible for slavery in the United States because I live here now??

The concept of original sin is illogical--it says in the Bible itself that the son cannot be punished for the sins of the father...but we're all supposedly punished for the sins of a long-ago anscestor.

I also think it's unfair to punish modern Christians for the inhumane behavior of long ago, but they do need to recognize that their belief system has in fact caused an immense amount of grief. They should (imo) apply that information to their behavior now.

So...they're both wrong.

why do people lump us all into one category, saying you Christians? Anyways, I don't feel that I am responsible for the original sin but I am living under the consequences of the original sin just as everybody lives under consequences of other's sin. For example, everybody is living under the consequences of what happened on 9//11. We're not responsible but that is what we are living with. And for the second question. I am not responsible for what happened during that time as it was contrary to the will of God. The bible tells us to love, and to forgive our enemies. Therefore I will not accept responsibility for that either.
