freshman is considered ignorant oblivious to every thing.
Hence fresh.
sophomore is a slight step upward from the scale
also seconds as wise but stupid *source below*
Jr. not quite an adult
Senior all grown up
the cycle is like so.
freshman is poop
sophomore is fly
Jr's are fly swatter
the hand that swings the the swatter is the Senior.
