Abraham was promised posession of the land. He died, never having any of it. Common christianity would say abraham is in heaven, if you belive this then when will abraham be given this land?

Gen. 15:18-21 "…unto thy seed (Abraham) have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates".

And if you thought about telling me the old testament is unreliable, how about this?

Heb 11:13. These (incl. abraham) all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Doesnt pilgrims mean they understoond they were only only on the earth for a short while? if they embrased the promises they must have expected to be raised to life and give the land?

Your wrong. It was given to Abraham, its clearly a promsie to him see :

Gen 13:15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever.

Im, talking specifically about abraham, and the obvious probelms with saying he is in heaven - hes goign to be kicked out of heaven and made live in israel again? or has god lied? or is he not in heaven... and is dead, completly, with no conscience existance, waiting for christ to return? "dust thou art, and unto dust thou will return"

Im more interested in how people explain this away having if they have a "heaven going" viewpoint , i have my own belifs that dont include going to heaven when you die... really just curious having had a few discussions with people.

How can you say this was fulfilled? it makes a comple mockery of the bible it clearly states a number of times that abraham did not receive the land, the promises were to abraham himself... not his seed. IT WAS HIS PROMISE. the bible goes into such huge pains to stress this, always mentioning it WAS HIS promise, not only his seeds. When he burries sarah a whole chapter is taken up to show he would not accept the land as a gift, he purchased the land to bury sarah - why? because he knew god promised to give it him - when he died he wanted to have no land, because he knew god would have to raise him to life and give him the land... a lot of good point have come in the answers though, thanks everyone for their time :)

Jesus is going to come back and sit on David's throne and rule the earth with a rod of iron. All the nations are going to come and worship Him. Abraham WILL receive what was promised to him. He's going to get a new body that will never pass away. God made the promise to him and He will keep it. That is why serving Him is so great!

Gen. 15:18-21 "…unto thy seed (Abraham) have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates".

The seed of Abraham inherited the Promised Land when they crossed the Jordan River with Joshua, shortly after Moses died.

God kept that promise.

Heb 11:13. These (incl. abraham) all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Abraham never got to physically see his descendents inherit the land, but they certainly did, and Abraham knew they would, because God said it would happen.

When Paul speaks of strangers and pilgrims, he acknowledges the fact that this earth is not the true home of anyone who believes in the one, true, God.

God's people will only be home when they're dwellng in the same place that God dwells, and right alongside him.

And that will be the ultimate and complete fulfillment of God's promise to Abraham, as well as all his descendants in faith.

After the Israelis inflict genocide on the Palestinians and the Lebanese, they will get right to work on eradicating the Syrians, the Iraqis, the Saudis and the Egyptians. The Jews plan big and they plan for the long haul. Israel never was anything except a wedge intended to pry open the door to Greater Israel, gaining for the Jews all the land from the Nile to the Euphrates. And the way they intend to do it is by killing or chasing away every non-Jew in that whole region.

While Abraham had a significant institution of humans with him, they had been hardly ever ample to fill a significant land equivalent to Canaan and the certain promise used to be that God might deliver the land to Abraham's descendants, which He did. Canaan used to be a land of wealthy assets and the Canaanites fought in opposition to wasting it. The cause God advised the Israelites to wreck them used to be for the reason that they had been an overly evil humans who worshiped fake gods or even sacrificed their kids by way of throwing them into a fireplace. When the Israelites took the land, the Canaanites had been truthfully finished by way of God's will.

First of all the promises mentioned in Hebrews do not include the land, because Abraham was looking for a new city whose builder and maker is God (also in Hebrews) . They will receive the land that was promised in the Millenium which will come after the return of Christ, their Messiah.

We must remember that the promise found in Torah (lekh lekhah) is to the children of Abraham and this begs the question, who are the children of Israel? Scripture tells us that it was Ishmael and Isaac. Strangely enough this sets in motion the paradox of Torah, that then as now the land is a place of conflict and divided interest. Two nations came from Abraham and two nations are holding the land, with one wounding the other. As the young Ishmael sought water in the wilderness with his Egyptian mother, so Palestine thirst for justice looking to Egypt for support and his mother is in weakness. Israel is in control of the land and to some extent has abused the privilage of the land and must bring justice to his elder brother before messiah can come.

Psalms 37:9,10,11,29 says that the people will be resurrected back to the earth to live on it forever. Just think of the value of that land now. Jesus the messiah lived there. His children lived there and now he will be given the land to live on forever.
It will be a real priviledge and what a blessing. that is why Satan wants to ruin that part of the earth. But God will not allow him to damage it beyond the repair of God and when Abraham returns that is his place to live.

The land is in the hands of God, who created it and gave it. After the great tribulation which is to come, Jesus Christ will return and sit on the throne in the New Jerusalem.

After He moves the squatters out that is........
