I had both of my nipples pierced (I had to take them out cause I'm trying to get pregnant :(). It was an easy piercing for me. Didn't really hurt at all. Healing was really short and relatively easy but I'm also anal about caring for new piercings. If your nervous about doing both of them see if the piercer will do them "tandum". i.e. he'll have someone help him and they'll do them both at once.
I did them separately and like I said it didn't really hurt at all. My tongue and my belly button hurt much more than the nipples did.

I have mine done horizontally and vertically. I did the verts myself. Depending on size of nipple and how deep the piercing is done will impact how much it will hurt. As a piercer, I can tell you pain is relative and varies from person to person. You should expect some pain, if nothing else a pinch. Don't tense up and try to relax, it makes everything easier.
Make sure the piercer explains all proceedures to you and that everything is kept in sterile and individual packaging and opened in front of you. They should mark spots on your nipples to assure they allign correctly. They should be pierced with a circular or horseshoe ring, never a barbell.
For cleaning, wash with warm water and clean off any crust from the jewelry. It is important to do this so that the crust doesn't get inside the hole and tear or infect the piercing. Wash with warm water again and use a mild liquid antibacterial soap (I like Dial). Make sure the soap doesn't have moisture beads or strong scents. Once you wash the area, gentley move flip the jewelry up and then down again while you rinse off the soap. If you notice a green, yellow or brown discharge, you have an infection and should see a doctor. An additional option to help heal and to reduce soreness is sea salt soaks. This can be found and health and whole food stores. Mix the sea salt with warm water so that the solution tastes like tears. Either soak paper towel and hold on the area, or fill a shot glass and hold it over your nipple.
Healing should take 4-8 months even a year at most. Initial healing is 4-8 weeks. At that point, you can gently touch and play with them. Try to avoid changing jewelry for at least the minimum of that time frame. Everyone is different.
Be sure to clean them twice a day. Avoid using table salt, epsom salt, Bactine, alcohol and peroxides. Those solutions can dry out skin and make healing worse or painful.
Good luck to you

Pain varies from person to person. It could hurt a lot or very little. Plus side: it only hurts for a few seconds.
Healing time: 6 weeks initial healing (untill you can allow others to have contact with them) Full healing 1 year (aprox)
Aftercare: Sea salt soaks twice daily. Nothing more. Do not rotate jewelry, use a q-tip to remove crusties (lymph) after soaks
BTW you don't need to take the piercings out during pregnancy or during the time you're breast feeding (it won't affect the flow of milk) Just take the jewelry out when the baby is actually feeding so you don't damage his/her gums or risk the baby swallowing the jewelry

I had mine pierced for about a month then took them out. Not worth the time it takes for them to heal in my opinion. I have had 2 other piercings and 10 tats and none even came close to the pain I felt getting the nipples done.

Nipple piercings do and will hurt they can also take quite a while to heal and are very hard to keep healthy. you'll need to wait at least 3 months for them to heal, and during that time you need to be very careful not to get them snagged on things. a great thing to do is to soak them in a mixture of sea salt and water. that helps to get the "crusties" off the piercings without too much trauma. hope that helps.

the clamping hurt more than the actual piercing. as far as cleaning, use non frangrance soap until it's fully healed. this can take up to 6 months.
