Enforce existing laws. Create laws against employers that hire, exploit, illegals effective immediately. Allow immigrants a three-month visa pass that is renewable provided they return home for a week after the three months is up and that they are not charged or convicted of a high misdemeanor or felony. Make them register with Immigration every time they cross the border where they will receive thier green card/work visa. The visa would be like a probation lasting two years whereas if they obeyed the statute they would be entitiled to submit their names to become American citizens. As for those already here. NO ABSOLUTE AMNESTY. Require anyone who knows they are here illegally to report to local immigration office and register to be interviewed for a status or else face deportation and suspension of visa priveleges for a year. Somethin along those lines....
For our part--we need to pass fair trade and labor practices acts that require the Mexican government and the companies that build there to pay prevailing wages, improve their environment, and secure their own southern border.

This is going to be long so bear with me, I many be wrong in a few areas, i don't know all the facts
I believe that immigration should in some ways be limited, I think that too many illegal immigrants are here, and I have seen stories saying that illegal immigrants contribute to this country, well they can contribute by paying taxes. I think that if you are staying here for business purposes that you should pay taxes. I think our government could use it. And there are many citizens of America who are far worse off than some immigrants and they have to pay taxes. Sure there should be a time when they first come here where they can get a good job and make some money. I think that the government should be for the Americans and not the big businesses, so they don't screw the people who don't understand English that well. I don't think anyone could stay in this country for their whole life and not learn one word of English, there are plenty of Americans that go to other countries and hardly know any of their language. I do think that they shouldn't let everyone and their brother into this country but, they can't leave everyone out because lets face it America started with immigrants.

kit Fang in case you're maximum remarkable in the immigration coverage for none eu nationals, why are we spending hundreds of thousands on interpreters for the police and activity centers. Why can we've faculties that hire instructors who communicate Urdu, Punjabi, Arabic et al. Why are over a million (possibly greater) rag heads, on the earnings gadget, no longer basically them yet their prolonged families, why can a pair are available in and then usher in nan grandad and vast grandad. Why can we've complete streets in some factors of the rustic the place the keep indications are all in foreign places writing, and why can we've complete factors the place each and every resident of a highway is asian. because of the fact coverage means diddly squat to this government, and it will effectively recommend no longer something to their replacements. Its all nicely and good finding down from the ivory towers and asserting what a staggering multicultural society we've, particularly we've the present society and a sparkling one that somewhat than combine, is initiating to dominate. somebody is going to gentle the blue touch paper, and innocents are going to go through if this or the subsequent government does not do some thing to guard the righteous immigrants and the present nationals from this inflow. i wish it never takes place, yet i will see visions of the streets of 70's Belfast no longer too far off sooner or later

I believe it should be HIGHLY regulated...period.
There are nations (Japan for example) that are damned near impossible to gain citizenship in....and that's why their national economy is so good....they don't fall victim to economic leeches who do nothing to benefit their society.
I have no problem with immigration, as long as it's done legally, and as long as they learn to speak english fluently. English is the national language of the US, and requesting someone to learn the language is no different than Canada requiring someone to speak French as well as English as a prerequisite to national admittance.
Illegal immigration needs to be forcibly routed, razed, and regulated.
My family came over on the boat after WWII from Italy, and just like everyone else...they LEARNED the f'n language, because people were less tolerant and lazy then. If you wanted to survive, you had to be intelligent enough to get by.
Now, that doesn't happen because the government is too damned ppolitically correct and soft.

I think we should definitely have some restrictions on immigration. Probably there should be a two-tiered system, one that leads to citizenship and one that opens up some jobs for guest workers.
In the US, anyone who wants to try for a permanent green card or citizenship should be required to display significant proficiency in English. Why not? The Canadians have a French test.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. the wretched refuse of your teaming shores. Send these, the homeless, temptest tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door." Anyone recognise these words? No one should be refused the right to immigrate.

restrict it all. if you're illegal we get to hobble you and ship you back to your country. end of story. you have NO rights in this country and deserve to get any services from local or federal government. American services for Americans and its LEGAL residents.
