Ok here is my problem: We own a 2001 alero, 1966 Valiant, and we just bought a 2003 Satun L300 Station wagon, We owe about 2000 on the alero. The Valiant runs, is in good shape, needs some brake work, and has a oil leak (engine needs new gaskets). With other little things we could spend about a $1000 and the car would be in GREAT shape. But we never have the money, BUT I don't want to let the car sit and rot, AND it was my first car and I don't want to sell it. BUT like I said I never have the extra cash to sink into it. Any advice, ideas, adecdotes anything to give me an idea whether to keep the car to someday work on it or sell it. It's like a white elephant in the room, what to do with it? THANKS!!

don't know what other little things you are referring to but fixing the oil leak and the brakes...provided you do that your self should run less than $200. I'm assuming it's a slant 6 or a 318. Both are excellent engines and are so easy to maintain. I think I'd keep it and just do a little at a time until you have back to driving condition. Nice cars in their day the valiant was. And if it's a 2 door...even bettter...it's probably worth more than you think.

If you have a place to store the old Plymouth out of the elements, like a garage or a pole barn, keeping it INSIDE, then go ahead and put it away until you can afford to work on it. If you DON'T..then sell it. Put the old girl on Ebay, somebody will snap it up..might even be me. It'll go to a good home. Don't go parking it outside and let it rot, that's just stupid.

Hi, Had a station wagon with that slant 6 that just goes &goes. It was our work horse, for our family of 4.It sounds like it will cost you abuot what you quoted.Really you are sentimental over the car.You enjoyed the car but it`s time to tear yourself away from it.Sell it to some one who is really interested in it as is.You will get over it by saving on Ins. space, and no worry about it.So go for it,GET RID OF IT!
