Before you answer, it is nothing emotional. I am a very happy person and do NOT eat when Im sad or overwhelmed or anything. Could it be a chemical imbalance or something to thate extent? I even eat when I'm full. Tell if you can if there is a medical aspect of my condition.-

My question to you, is why would you want to stop eating?

When one tries to stop eating, which one must do to survive, that becomes their primary focus. They get on themselves because they feel they are eating too much, when in fact, generally, they are under consuming.

My guess is that you are trying to lose weight by eating less. Problem is, you are probably eating too little, thus triggering your hunger / appetite.

You don't mention too many details of how many calories you are eating or how often you are eating, so I can only speculate at this point. But as far as eating when you are already full, you probably just have to retrain yourself to push the plate away and find something else.

It's okay to eat. Just make sure your meals aren't far apart. Try to graze throughout the day, which will keep your metabolism rolling. Also, you may find it helpful to track your calories from time to time, just to see for yourself how much (or little) you are actually eating. http://www.fitday.com is free and very helpful.

Feel free to drop me a line if you can spell out further details for me.

Good luck.

Habit...I have the same prob. I am not overweight...well I got a lil' bit after my 1st pregnancy. If the food is there I just can't stop eating because I feel it's going to go to waste or I don't know if I even think I just do...I am a grazer to when I am cooking sometimes I get full before I even finish then I don't want my meal.
Now for the help...I started Weight Watchers with only 15 pounds to lose...which I lost but that wasn't what I really gained. I learned portion control and how much I was really eating, and sometime in the process that thing started clicking in my head "I am full stop eating" and I would. SOmething to look into even if you don't have a lot of weight to lose but just want to gain control over your eating habits.

If you actually feel full, but keep eating, it's prolly just habit like previously stated. you can get used to unconsciously eating, which is not good. Start by only putting your plate together in the kitchen and then sitting down to eat, or don't take a whole bag of chips to the couch, just put some in a bowl and then put the bag away. I just started doing that and i've found it helpful, i also don't bring food into my room. If you never actually feel full, it could be a chemical problem and you'd have to see a Dr. for that...

you just have to find something else to focus on. i do have the same problem. so now i stock my fridge with watermelons, oranges, grapes and things that are good for me so if i do over eat at least its healthy.
