Traditionally you should serve white wine.

But, to be honest, it doesn't really matter. If it's quite a heavy chicken dish (e.g. coq au vin) you could get away with red wine quite easily. And even if it isn't, you can get away with a light bodied red.

If you're not confident with your wine though, just play it safe and go for a dry white.

Roast it, fry it, broil it or boil it, chicken is one dish that goes well with a broad variety of wines, while demolishing the old theory that limits red wines to red meat and white wines to white meat.

The standard rule is white wine with chicken althought there are exceptions. I usually go with Pinot Grigio if I'm having guests and don't know if they prefer sweet or dry wines- most everyone likes P.G.

White, sweet or dry. My personal preference is red with red meats, such as steaks!

Any you wish.

White, very dry, goes very well with lemony or creamy sauces.

Red can be nice too, but should be a light vintage, not the very rich Bordeaux or Burgundy styles of red.
