Will drinking alcohol irritate a sore throat? I also have a cough and have pretty much lost my voice. Will alcohol make it worse?

i don't know what it does physiologically...and i'd stay away from anything carbonated, but i've found a little shot of warm whiskey to actually help with a cold....but i wasn't going out partying or anything like that.

Yes it will--> the acid in the alcohol will irritate your voice

First answer is wrong. No acid there I don't think.

However, It will burn!

For some added fun you could eat a hand full of Doritos's first, then wash it down with the booze.

There's no acid in alcohol, though it will burn as it goes down...but it usually does anyway so go have a couple and call it a day - I bet you'll feel better! (:

Depends. If you drink scotch, will sooth you'r throat! Other alcohol will make it worst!!

whisky will definitely do you some good, a nice scottish or irish one which will burn your throat on the way down will kill off anything nasty.
