Yes good personal hygiene and drinking adequate amounts of fluid especially water will help. Try not to indulge in a lot of junk food and sodas and eat proper meals; your fruits and vegetables and grains. Eventually this phase of your adolescence will pass. Peace!

It might help, but don't over-do it! Too much water can be bad, too! It can throw off your electrolytes and give you heart problems. I recommend seeing a dermatologist. I have acne and my dermatologist has me taking a combination of antibiotics and a cream called Retin-A. It works pretty good (way better than Proactiv) but it's a prescription medicine. It's not perfect, but definitely an improvement. I let people take my picture now, sometimes. Before last year, I didn't! It was really super bad, and I've been struggling with it since I turned 13. I wish I had known about Retin-A before I started. It might have helped me to boost my self confidence in Middle school and high school, when I really could have used it! I actually have very few photos of myself from when I was a teenager, because of that. 2008, the year I graduated from high school, was the worst. I had so much acne it was actually physically hurting my face, and no matter what I tried it didn't help, and sometimes made things even worse. Take my word for it and see a dermatologist. I regret that I didn't earlier, because it caused bad scars on my face that may never go away.

I had the same problem for years and tried a lot of things...get a non-scented face wash at CVS or someplace, try Dove unscented. I would use that 2-3 times a day, but no more. If the problem doesn't seem to go away at all try going to a dermatologist. As far as I know Accutane is the only surefire cure for acne, you take it for 5 months (it starts working after 1-2) and it dires out your skin like hell, but it will be gone after that.

Hey There...well I've been dealing with acne since I was your age (I'm 18 now) and well it's still there. I've tired gently washing my face and honestly it doesn't do any good that I can see. Yes, water does help...it's clean, pure, and doesn't have all the crap soft drinks do. I've been using Proactiv for maybe a year? and it helped at first but either I've become immune to it or it's just not for me. I would suggest drop the soft drinks if you drink them and seeing a dermatologist.

Acne is cause by hormones that your body cannot process properly.
Drinking good water is always a plus for healthy skin.
Taking good digestive enzymes like Super Enzyme by Twin labs and Congeplex by Standard Process should help your problem. It will take about two months for you to see the difference. Congeplex helps with restore collagen.
Using something topical is only temporary and usually never works.

I have found that drinking more water helps me, but it's not a cure. My skin has less breakouts when I have plenty of fluids and stay away from caffeine.
Have you tried Pro Active? It works great!!! I love it. Need something a little cheaper? You can try clean and clear products too. I have no other tips or ideas... there really isn't a cure just things to help you manage. We all have had it, it's a part of life. oh yeah...worst thing is to try to pop it...it can just spread it.

drinking water is def. best. it flushes the skin out. one pimple at a time is not a big deal, i suggest you look at ppl with roascea and red cheeks with speed bumps on them and feel very lucky. if you have serious acne, proactive works wonders.
if you just have one pimple at a time, id say you are normal. wash your face with a face soap, maybe use an astringent for acne here and there and include in your prayers thanks that you dont have more serious problems :)

Acne is not caused by uncleanliness, diet, etc. You need to have antibiotics. Make an appointment with a dermatologist. You probably just need a prescription for doxycycline.
