If you mean segregated meaning by race, then I think it's about location and where someone feels comfortable. In our own history sometimes blacks were not accepted at white churches. I think we are beyond that now though.

If you mean by denomination, it's because, as the story goes, Satan didn't want anyone to understand eachother and made the people speak in "tongues" or different languages. The people that spoke the same language got together and so forth. Also, because people cannot agree on different things so they form their own "church" or way of thinking. Different denominations believe different things. That I do not consider segregation, but differences in opinion.

You may want to go to the library since you have so many questions and get some books on denominations and race and religion.

Are there still churches with real segregation policies? That's horrible! Embarrassing, in fact, that it ever existed, but I would be amazed to find one today.
(For those who were asking in other answers, the word segregation as we understand it today usually refers to obligatory separation of races)

I really think it is more about what type of neighborhood the church is in. I lived in S. calif for over 50 years and saw neighborhoods change substantially. I started out in one church with about 50 members, mostly white. The church grew and grew till it was 15000 members with 50% hispanic, 25%black, 10% asian and 15% white. The neighborhood I live in now is 86% white and 14% minorities and so is the church I go to. Neighborhood demographics strongly influence church demographics.
