I think many people have bad family history. If many people have had religion shoved down their throat, maybe from family, they weill often rebel against it. Many people distrust Him because they think that a god should make this world better. Many reasons

You should try to dialog with them about it. I have found that the ones that hate God, often are the ones that blame God for something that has happened to them. This is something like loosing a parent while they were very young. Or for having parents that have been abusing to them , perhaps because of alcohol addiction. They consider that this is God' doing and they learn to hate.If they learn that God is Love. and of the unconditional love God has for them, change of attitude often becomes evident .

Why do people equate non-belief in god to hate? I don't believe in Santa Claus, does that mean that I "hate" him? I don't hate that which does not exist. I do however, loathe the religion of Christianity but I don't "hate" the people who believe in it.
