what is pie and chips? theres fish and chips and i understand that but i have never heard of pie and chips

It's a Cockney Briticism. It refers to shepherd's pie (like our pot pies, or a vegetable mix encased in fried batter) and french fries, which are also called chips in the UK, Ireland and Europe.

so some distance as i visit inform, pie is like what us human beings call "pot pie". The English make it with a number of differnt fillers, like steak, rooster, kidney bean or blech liver. The chips seem slices of potato baked till they're crispy.

pie is pie and chips are french fries. in the context i might guess a shepard's pie which is like a pot pie, meat and veggies inside a crust
