I feel like I am fighting off a cold, but I have an appointment for massage therapy tonight that I do not want to miss. I know that when you get massages a lot of the toxins from your muscles are released and I am wondering if this will make my cold a lot worse. Thanks!

I think the considerate thing to do would be to re-schedule the appointment. Why expose the therapist to your germs and possibly give her a cold?

If I would have a client come for massage and they are sick, I would be pissed. Massage is not a treatment for a cold, gimme a break. All you going to do is getting your therapist that you so like sick. Think about it. Massage can actually interfere with your healing process, because the so-called toxins that you might flush into the system are not the toxins that gave you the cold.
Anyway if you let your massage therapist know and they are ok that you are coming, then wear a mask to protect the therapist. Maybe the therapist should also wear a mask.
And most importantly keep your hands clean. The main way of getting a cold is by touch and not by shared air space.
Hope you get well soon.

Do not get a massage when you are sick. The toxins and infection will be spread throughout your body as the circulation increases from the massage. It can make you much sicker. Do not waste your money or risk your health

Massage is contraindicated while you have the common cold, but the average amount of time to have it is around 5 days. Once the cold is abated, it is no longer a problem.

tell the therapist that you think you may be coming down w/ a cold and they may possibly be able to incorporate some reflexology in the areas needed to assist in fighting it off but by all means you SHOULD NOT PASS UP A MASSAGE!!!!
