lethargic, in fact she's very active, doesn't have a fever, is doing well developmentally, but it was like all of a sudden she can take a 3-hour nap and instead of lying in her crib at 7:30 tossing and turning, she's out like a light at 7:25.

Would you be worried? I almost always call the doctor when I have a feeling there's something wrong, but this "symptom" seems so non-specific that I figured I'd see if anyone else experienced a change in their child's sleeping habits at around this age. Thanks!

She could be having a growth spurt! I know when my son is growing because he eats more and sleeps a lot more!

It could be a growth spurt, or she may just be developing better sleep habits. At 18 months old she may have gotten the hang of self soothing. The fact that she is not tossing and turning anymore is actually a good thing. It sounds like she is very secure since she doesn't mind being alone and going to bed.

Also, as long as she is not lethargic during the day then I wouldn't worry about a medical problem. If it was something that was medically wrong that was making her tired, then she would not have the energy to play, and she would not be doing well developmentally.

It sounds like your child has just learned to listen to her bodies signals when she is tired!

My son has been like that from birth...at 2-1/2 weeks he started sleeping through the night. Now at 2 he goes right to sleep at 8pm and wakes up at 7:30...and has a 2-1/2 to 3 hour nap on weekends...he plays hard and sleeps...Its perfectly normal...

Sounds like she is growing. You will notice changes in eating habits too. They tend to go from eating all the time to refusing everything you give them.

Sounds like a possible growth spurt to me. Kids often sleep more when they're growing. Does she eat more too? I wouldn't be worried if I was you...both of my kids sleep more when they're growing.
