I ABSOLUTLY NEVER LISTENED TO WHAT HE SAID. I ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THINGS MY WAY OR NO WAY. NOW AS A MOTHER I SEE WHAT HE WAS TRYING TO DO. HE WAS TRYING TO PROTECT ME, BUT I COULDN'T SEE IT.

I never had a good relationship with my father. He was a verbally and sometimes physically abusive kind of person. He liked to tell me all the things that I COULDN'T do. I would never graduate college, get a good job, or get married to a good guy and have good children. In his eyes I was never good enough to enjoy life as it was. Needless to say I worked about 75 hours a week my senior year in high school working two jobs, went to school half a day (because I got all my classes done early), and took a college english class at night. I moved out and went on to college ( I haven't finished yet), moved back to Houston, got an amazing job making $18 an hour (salary though) as an office manager, got married to a wonderful husband, and I am pregnant with my first child. Thanksgiving about 3 years ago my father found out that he had cancer and I was the only one that was close enough and that could afford to take care of him and I did!!! Now my father wants to be really close to me through EVERYTHING. Sometimes I am still bitter a bit about him not being there for me until he was dying and needed me and at other times I am just glad!! Take everything with stride. If its abuse tell someone otherwise take everything with a grain of salt. You will realize that in most cases your parents are/ were right!!! But ya never know til you live it!

Me and my father fought a lot and now that I am grown , we hardly talk because my father is a dictator. He CONTROLLED my life. I didn't want to go to that career path, but my father made me go to the retail industry. I am NOT A PEOPLE person and I am not enthusiastic. The retail managers of the jobs I applied to, know that I am not a customer service oriented person. So why did he suggest I go there? For a father not knowing his own daughter is sad.

I had my father throught my whole child hood and I admire him to this day. As an adult I can look back and understand the reasons he did or said the things he did. I am now able to see his strengths, support, and understanding. He is the kind of man I want (and have) as my husband.
