If Pagans, Wiccans, Witches and the like began spreading the word about thier beliefs?
Would you be upset by this, happy about it? How would you respond?

I would be happy that they were informing the public. Right now the general public is VERY naive about minority religions. If they were educated - they would be less fearful of them. Fear breeds irrational thought, and things like the Salem witch trials. I'd probably stand alongside them and help them spread the word considering I practice a minority religion myself. Also - I believe firmly in freedom of religion. That means all religions - not just the Abrahamic ones. It also gives people the right to have no religion at all.

Now - I probably wouldn't be happy if the Pagans et al started acting like fundie Christians and tried to shove and force their religion on people who don't want it. Of course I've never met a Pagan who tried to convert anyone. They're generally more intelligent than that.

I have to agree with both the cpt and gorgeous. It would be great to learn a little more, ok a lot more because I know nothing. As long as it was done respectfully.

What I find to be so nice about the Pagans, Wiccans, Witches, etc is the fact that I don't see any of you trying to sway people to your beliefs. I only see this from the Christians, and to a point the Muslims.

Wouldn't bother me, until I saw false information being given out. Like we see now... which people of other religions use against those of us who actually study what we believe. Though, personally, I wouldn't contribute to such a widespread action as my beliefs are personal to me and I don't feel they need to be discussed in depth the same way others feel they need to do with theirs.

It would probably end up being very confusing to people as many seem to think Pagan/Wiccan/Witch all mean the same thing and we all follow the same thing. Once they realized that there are many different religions within those broad terms, they would lose interest and probably cling only to the bad information given in order to "prove" how wrong they feel it is.

I would say that it's ABOUT FLAMIN' TIME! WE pagans and the like have been slent for far too long. It's time that we took a stand. It is time that those in the public eye openly proclaim their position and let the rest of us know that they are out there, and that there is hope. I would welcome the fact that there are other besides me that are no longer willing to pretend to be other than we aer simply for the sake of social acceptance of expediency. I say do it, do it NOW! Speak out, stand up, be counted.

That is how I would respond IF such a thing happened. Of course I seriously doubt that very many of my fellow Pagans, Witches, Wiccans or the like would ever have the courage to take that stand. NOw if anyone wants to prove me wrong....

I would love it! My wife and I, as pagans, feel very isolated in our incredibly backwards, conservative state. The one instance we connected with other pagans and witches, it was with a group that was overflowing with rabid egoism and everyone wanted power over everyone else. They were snyde, insulting, and rude. I don't know that I have ever felt so hurt and rejected in my life. The solitary way can be soooooooooo lonely and discouraging, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to trust, much less find "perfect trust", for a group situation again.

Blessed Be.

What is there to be upset or offended by? People that have beliefs contrary to theirs spread their religion and I don't see any of them in a tizzy over that! It would make me very happy if everyone could be open and honest about their religion and beliefs. As long as they are not hurting anyone who are any of us to tell them that they are wrong? Judgment is not for us to hand out!!

I may not like it, but I have my own mind & beliefs. I would continue to live my life and let them live theirs. I'm sure there are people out there with those beliefs that do try to "spread" their word regarding their beliefs. I am strong in my beliefs, nothing will change that.

If by "spreading the word" you mean to educate when asked, I am in favor of it as long as it is accurate and polite. To a point, I feel this is already being done.

If you mean to proselytize, I would distance myself in the same way that I do to all who proselytize their faith--regardless of what religion they are selling.

I would be happy about it. But my beliefs fall much closer to those mentioned than they do to any of the Abrahamic religions (if that's the right word?)

i personally would react the same as any other religion that does so
i would look at what is being posted .. question it .. see if it feels right to me .. and act on that one way or another
however ...
i do not feel that anyone posting their beliefs in an effort to convert people will do what is intended
most people are quite secure in what they already believe and posting scriptures and quotes will not change them
