How about ALBANY? It's about 2 1/2 - 3 hrs fron NYC. The foliage right now is beautiful plus the is a famous Hows Cavern and another cave i don't remember the name. But i't's easy to find out when you are there. Have fun what ever you decide.

The fall is wonderful on the North Fork of Long Island. Go to Wine Country: Pindar Vineyard, Osprey Dominion, Corey Creek. Go pumpkin Picking while you are there and then to the Elbow Room in Jamesport for THE best marinated porterhouse. Trust me.
