I bought this out of town and they did not give me a remote for it. However, I accidentally triggered the alarm on it which makes me think it has the keyless system.

Every 2002 Ford Escape does come with Remote Keyless Entry Systems. Are you referring to the Keyless Entry KEYPAD? If so, these can be purchased and installed at the dealer level.

put the key in the ignition, close and lock the door, turn the key to the accessory position (all the dash light will come on, but do not start the car) 8 times within 10 seconds. if the door lock and unlock, it has keyless entry. to program the remote when you get them, do the same steps, after the doors lock and unlock, push the lock button on one of the remotes (assuming you get two), the doors will lock and unlock, push the lock button on the second remote, the doors will lock and unlock. both remotes are now programmed. this works with almost all ford vehicles if the have keyless entry. some of them have to be programmed by a Ford dealer. good luck.

Do you have a remote key fob for it? Or does it have a numeric keypad on the driver's door? If the answer is yes, then you have a keyless entry system.

Dealership will have the answer.. And if it was an option, you could possibly purchase it from them.. Keep in mind it might be expensive

That is soooooo easy,...if it hasn't got a keyhole, then it is keyless entry.....simple.!
