It depends on how you define a job? Many professional musicians play their instruments for symphonies without making a lot of money. The conductor is paid well, and there must be additional money for the Concertmaster, and there may be special bonuses for residents of gifted seats in the orchestra. Most people play for the love of their art, and have to work for a living to support themselves and their families. If I had the ability to sing and be heard by people, I would consider that an honor and a pleasure in pursuit of my passion. My educated guess would be that a famous singer or an instrumentalist would be like being a professional athlete. Many strive to be great, but few actually achieve success in their chosen sport. There are few great actors and actresses, but many people populate the movies to fill the screen with people who create the movies we see in front of us.

There are a bunch of things you can doing. A couple of these are that you can teach and go into arts administration, where you can work in a theatre or even an university. Best thing to do is to go to your local library to look for books on careers for singer, search for thing like "what can i do with a major in music" or talk to someone at your school career center.

Well, if you were talented with acting as well, then you can join bradway and sing in musicals.
It awesome!
I would love to take the blame for getting you hooked on them, so I
think that you should check out the play "cats"
Its very cool, and if your having second thoughts you wont remmeber them after you see this!
Im in a magnet school so all of these opertunites.
I would suggest trying out for a magnet school or something to open the opertunities and to be discovered. Also find out if you could do it in the real world.
Also, see if you have a youth fair around were you live. Mine does competitions and I usually try out. Thats another way to see the compition and get your voice out there. to see if you are good enogh for tommorows listeners and album buyers!
If your not talking about stuff like that ,get a gitarist boyfriend.

Obviously you could sing with a small group or band. A lot of people professionally sing at weddings, ;proms, Mardi Gras. there are unlimited places to show off your talent. You can promote your talent by working with civic theater in your community, they are always looking for volunteer talent. There is no money in civic theater, but its a good way to be known.
