I live in Houston TX and want to go to the Maldives for my honeymoon in mid July. I am trying to find affordable airfare. I havent seen anything less then 3,000. I would like to go thru Dubai as well and have a few days there.

Use Emirates airlines. Those flights would be about $1500-$1600 per person. Not really that bad if you think about it. You could also do the stop over in Dubai on the way through or the way back.
