I want to make some brownies, but I don't have any applesauce! Can I used canned pumpkin? I know it'll change the taste, but I'm thinking it might be good. The recipe calls for 3/4 cup butter, so maybe 3/8 cup pumpkin, 3/8 cup canola oil?

I tried it, twice! The first turned out really good, and I switched up the recipe a bit for the 2nd batch... so we'll see

Yes! Do it! I bet it'll be great!
You could probably even go 1/2c pumpkin and 1/4c oil, just be sure to line your pan with parchment paper.
Mmmm, call me when they're ready, I'll be happy to taste-test for you!!!

You could TRY it, but personally it sounds pretty revolting. SOUNDS revolting, you never know, it may be good. I don't know if chocolate and pumpkin mix too good, bacause applesauce is pretty easy at staying in the background.

If one can put spinach in chocolate cake I see no reason why pumpkin can't go into brownies.

Be the first on your block.

I hear it's widely used in the ketchup industry, which tells me it can take on flavor
