Ok I have never heard of any company called "Scotish energy" but I think you are actually talking about ScottishPower. (Yes there is no space in there.)
I actually work for the company in customer services and I have had very few people find it hard to understand what I say, I am from Glasgow and have a very strong Glaswegian accent and the amount of people that actually say to me they love my accent far outweighs the amount that can't understand it.
To answer your question (which is not really a question as it does not finish with a question mark), we do speak English but we use a colloquial dialect. Just like people from Liverpool or London or Birmingham.
I think maybe it is you who has the problem because you did not pay enough attention to what the person was saying.
Just a though....

There are some really good accents in Scotland. Allegedly Inverness is supposed to be Queens English, not sure about that one. But for pure entertainment look for Hector Brocklebank on the Internet. This is a Radio Wind Up telephone call for Radio North Sound1 in Grampian. Try and find the Deep Sea Fishing call.

I hate the Scottish accent if that's what you can call it...I think it's more like a language! I think Scottish men are unnattractive, and their voice is the biggest turn off!
Now, Irish accents are a whole different story!! Yum yum yum!!
