If the relationship is karmic in nature, you may reach a decision of serious engagement within a day or two. You will know it is a karmic tie if you had a deja vu feeling when the two of you first met, or, if you started talking like you were continuing a conversation that you have never had in reality.

If it is a karmic tie, you do not need any period of getting to know each other, because you have done that already in one of your previous lives. And, if then the relationship was going from good to better but was rudely interrrupted for a reason out of your personal control, you will now find that both of you are eager to get it going once more, this time to do it right.

In this regard, only astrology can be the perfect guide. If you know how to to read the natal chart, see whether the ruler of the seventh house is retrograde, in hard aspect to Saturn or in hard aspect with the Moon Nodes or in conjunction to the Southern Node... each of these circumstances would mean that the relationship should be karmic in nature.

If Venus is retrograde in the natal chart, you will wait for the love of one of your previous lives, even it that means that you will wait until your 40ies or 50ies in this life. And when you finally meet that person, you will have the feeling that you have known them all your life and that you are ready to engage right away... that's how it works!

That depends on the maturity level of the couple. Some people (especially 'back in the days') met, fell in love, and got married within a few weeks/months, and some have been together for years without legally getting married.

Do whatever feels right. Most importantly, aim for happiness, not social approval.
