I am really tired of my cat scratching up the furniture, but I don't like the thought of having him declawed. He is a sweet cat and I don't want to risk "personality changes." If you have ever used them will you please let me know if they work and if they are worth the price? Thanks so much!

I have two kittens who were clawing up my furniture as well. I did use the softclaws and they do work, it looks funny on them. You do have to replace them after a couple of weeks, but they aren't that expensive. I would go for it save the furniture and the fun thing is you can paint them before you put them on the cat and it looks like he has painted nails.

About the personality changes, it depends on the cat. One cat may really be upset about it, while another cat may not show any problems.

I have read that claw removal is pretty traumatic to a cat no matter whether they show any outward signs of distress afterward. Does he have a scratching post to mess with? That may help. Maybe some toys to keep him from getting bored and scratching? I know that dogs can tear things up (chewing) when they are bored or anxious about being left alone all day, and toys or the radio can help.

I've had dogs all my life, so I am not too familiar with cat behavioral problems. I have had my first cat for two years now, and we have all leather furniture...I feel fortunate he has never shown an inclination to tear up stuff! I guess he is too busy babysitting the dogs.

I never understood how a person would be able to keep their cat still enough to put claw covers on, but if you think you will be able to, then I would try that before I made the big decision to have him declawed.

Good luck to you and your cat!

ive never tried soft claws but just clipping them works great. youd b surprised at how much of the claw u can take off safely.

its not that hard either. if they wont let u just wrap em up tightly in a towel. n use clippers that r made 4 it.

DONT get yr cat declawed. sry 2 say this but any1 who has doesnt know what they're talking about. it inhumane. i had a cat that had a beautiful gate (stride when she walked) , n got her declawed. now she sorta hobbles, even 6 yrs later. ive never forgin myself.

n the back claws 2? sounds like the cats just another piece of funiture 2 u. n not even yr favorite. (u can give me a thumbs down, thats fine)

Good luck!
Both my cats would scratch me to death if I ever tried to put those things on each of their "toes". They are expensive, too, and you won't know how your cat will react until you try to put them on. Declawing is terrible...think about someone pulling out your nails...don't even think about it. I keep nicely colored sheets on my furniture...which can be whipped off in a minute of company comes...this also solves the problem of shedding on the furniture.

Your cat will not have a personality change. The only time claw removal creates a change is when you have someone who is pestering them and they relize that slapping the person doesn't work and they hide. Then they have a problem. Make sure to keep him or her inside too! Remove that back ones Too they still can mess up leather furniture when they launch!!!!

yes and it doesn't work. I declaw all my cats from now on and its wonderful. Once you do it..you will think..MY GOD what have I waited so long for.

I figure...the cat is better off without his claws because he has a good home, lots of food and love, three kids and other animals to play with and..most importantly..I didn't ring his little neck.

Never used them, nor heard of them. but my cat was declawed about 6 months ago and she hasn't had any of the personality changes you are talking about.

Easier to just trim the hook on the end of the cats claws. The soft claws I had were a pain in the butt to get on the cat. And never lasted.

Declawing is definately now not the right way to move, Im joyful you respect that. I heard of Softpaws and used to be considering the fact that it myself. I feel theyre a gorgeous proposal! Imagine being in a position to red any color you wish, its lovable and doesnt harm the kitten a little. I say test it out! It will retailer you time and cash.

my neighbor used them on her dog because he kept scratching her legs. they began falling off in a week or so, so she felt they weren't worth the money, but if they stay on i think they would be worth it, rather that than having to replace the furniture.
