Whats causing my 3 yr daughter to have her top front tooth being loose?

I have a problem,my daughter front top tooth is loose and i dont konow why.she havent came crying to me that she hit her teeth or anything,and i know shes too young to have her adult teeth pushing it out so i dont know what to do or what caused it.she isnt on a sippy or bottle just the dreded old binkie(which i cant get rid of.tried plenty of times).she brushes her teeth and everything.but she does have a bad habbit using her front teeth to open things(ex.drink bottles) or loosing things(ex.shoe laces).i dont know if that cause it to be loose or not.i cant afford to take her to the dentist cause you have to pay so much up front with my husbands insurence for a dr to see you.i was wondering if anyone else had a toddler with a loose tooth and what did you do for it.any kind of info or suggestions will help greatly.also she was a late teether as it is cause she is just now getting her second molars in.

Myles is a twin.. but his twin brother Mikos.. he uses his teeth to open things too.. they are already getting little chips in them..

I would call the nurses line.. usually your doctors office has the phones forwarded to the nurses line after hours.. or you can call durring the day and ask to speak to the nurse.. they can tell you if it is serious or not.. then you will know what you have to do..

I bug the nurses all the time.. they are always happy to help and they can ask the doctor if it is serious if they dont know.. GOOD LUCK!!

She probably hit them on something and it probably didn't hurt (it usually doesn't hurt if you hit your teeth unless you hit your lip as well) which is why she didn't come crying to you. Leave them alone and don't let her have the binky (she should've had that taken away months ago anyway) or anything hard that could cause them to stay loose. Most likely they will tighten back up but if they don't then call her dentist.

By the way, just a few ways you could try to get rid of the binky:

-Throw it away and tell her it's broke.

-Tell her it's time to send it to another baby who needs it and have her put it in the mailbox. Take it out of the mailbox when she's not looking and then later have her go check and see if the "binky fairy" took it.

-Put a gross tasting liquid (like soy sauce or vinegar) on it and she'll eventually quit using it if her binky tastes bad when she puts it in her mouth.

I know you say you can't afford to take her to a dentist, but you really should try to find a way. She should already be having yearly check-ups. She might have some kind of structural damage to her teeth or some kind of gum problems and it would be important that that be diagnosed. A lot of people think that it's not that important to take care of baby teeth since they fall out anyway, but they are the foundation for the shape of her mouth and for healthy adult teeth. Many communities offer some kind of assistance for those who can't afford dental care, look in the yellow pages or ask your pediatrician. Or find a nearby dental college, many of them offer free care so their students can learn, and the students are overseen by experience dentists to make sure they are doing the right thing.

My cause for concern is the fact you said she uses them to open things. Call the denist and have it checked out. Better safe than sorry.

Stop her from opening things with her teeth.

Don't worry - they're only milk teeth in any case. Unless there is pain she doesn't need to go to the dentist.
