It was the first day of Law School, and there I was, 18 with a boyfriend who was nowhere to be found. In comes my friend Charles with two of his friends, Mr. A and Mr. P (we shall call them that to keep their privacy). Mr. A says to Charles, Hey, that girl is really cute! and Charles says, I know her, but don't even think about it, she has a boyfriend and Mr. A answers back: That's the girl I am going to marry.
Charles introduced us all and as time went by Mr. A and I became best friends; as time went by and we all grew, I discovered that my boyfriend wasn't the person I thought he was, so we ended up breaking up several times, while Mr. A had a share of girlfriends and we both told each other everything, we used to seat outside the classroom during breaks reading the letters his girlfriends sent him or drying my tears after each fight with my ex.
On the last year of Law School I broke up with my ex for good, and suddenly one day while Mr. A and I were driving to class (we did this frecuently) I heard a song on the radio and started singing to it, and to my surprise he knew the song too, this was a really weird song mind you, the kind you think only freaks know.
That moment it hit me...I was completely in love with him and he told me: I have waited patiently for five years now, do you think we can be together now? After that we kissed.

Three years later we got married, and we are happily married still.

Well not actually married yet but met my fiance via the internet. We met on a site called Findsomeone.com. We chatted on this site for quite a while and realized that we had a lot in common and would like to meet one and other. She finally gave me her real name (not her alias on-line) and phone number and we began conversing on the phone. We met for a coffee at a donut shop about 1.5 hours from each of us. We spent the whole day together just talking and laughing. I had many car problems that day and she was great and did not think any less of me. When I got home there was a nice e-mail asking that I call her and let her know that I had arrived safely, which I did. We continued to see each other each weekend and now are set to be married next May 20. Sorry not more romantic but that's the way it went dow 3 years ago and I am more grateful by the day that I got to meet this wonderful woman.

Hey, what a great question, I enjoyed reading all the replies!

I met my husband in Jan. of last year on an online personals site; he answered my ad while I was out of the country visiting my family. We wrote each other huge e-mails almost every day until I got back to the US, then met in person. He's a techie computer guy, and our first date consisted of going into the IMAX theatre through the back door (he knew some people there) and checking out the big IMAX projector before actually seeing the movie. He caught my eye, somehow he was so different from the guys I'd met before. Within a month, he asked me to be his gilrfriend - before we even slept together. In another couple of months, a pipe broke in my apartment, I moved in with him "for a couple of weeks", and never left. We were engaged within a year, and just got married a couple of weeks ago.

My husband and I had both been in previously "abusive" relationships. I had been single from mine for 6+ months and he had been out of his situation for about a yr. I was dared to place an ad on Yahoo Personals to try to find out who this man was from our area. My husband seen the ad and IM me. We began talking everyday , just as friends while we were in previous relationships. We become great friends and 8 months later, we decided to meet in person. We both had web cams, so we knew what the other looked like. After that first meeting. we never spent a weekend apart, even though there was a 4 hr drive distance. Six months later....we were married...been like a queen on cloud nine with my loving hubby!

I met my husband at church! It was my hometown church, and I was up in the choir loft singing with the choir. It is a small church, and everyone knows everybody. So, it was winter, and I saw the back of a tall man with dark hair in a long, grey wool coat standing at a pew. Asked my mom if she knew who it was, she didn't, but of course in a few minutes found out. It was the brother of our parish priest, who had come to visit him. Well, my dad was Deacon of our church, so we would often have him over for lunch after church. That Sunday, my mom invited the priest's brother, also. So, lunch happened, and the guys were in the living room, Mom and I were in the kitchen and she "dared" me to ask George out. Now, my Mom was Mrs. Conservative, so this was a real shocker! So, I did. Asked him out to a movie that night. We went, and out for a snack after. He went back to the city he lived in, not far away. I was dating a guy who was at university in Europe, so thought nothing of it. Several months later, George moved to the city I was in, and we would go out for coffee once in a while, just talking. That summer, my bf came back from Europe, and we kept seeing each other. In the fall, however, I started dating George. The next summer, when the "old" bf came back again, George went to see him and said that if he wanted me he had better claim me, or he would. George won, we were married the next summer. He always said it was a waste of a year that the other guy hung on... Well, we've been married 17 years and are a happy family.

My ex-boyfriend belonged to a local Bulletin Board System (think like a YahooGroup of folks all in one area) that I joined when I was with him. I became friends with some of the folks on the Board, including the man I eventually married. My ex dumped me the weekend that the Board was having a Halloween party, and I went to the party because I really needed a hug. My now-husband and I started dating about four months later.

So I do have something to thank my Ex for. =)

I met my husband at a nightclub actually. It was really surprising because when I went out with my friends I never talked to guys at clubs or bars because they are meat markets.
It was a Tuesday night (ladies night) me and 3 friends were upstairs looking down on the club (bi-level club). My good friend said some guy was staring at me from below - I jokingly waved to get a laugh out of my friends. I turn around to go to the bathroom and he was standing behind me. We chatted until 3am and he called me 2 days later (some stupid guy rule lol).

We have been married now for a year and a half - dated for 3 years.

I was 17 years old and in a bad "first love" relationship. My sister, who is 7 years older, came up with the idea that I should meet her husband's boss. He was 26 years old, very attractive, single, no children, great job, etc. They (sister and bro in law) set us up on a blind date. We all met at a local tavern that night. The next day we all went to a company picnic. About 3 days later, I sent him a balloon bouquet with a mylar balloon that said "thank you", on the card I put my phone number and stated "hope we can do it again." That night he called, asked me out again. Got engaged 2 months later (I was 18 by then). Now, 15 years, 2 children, and 11 years of marriage...I still am in love as ever! By the way, thank you for making me think about this! Got me all warm and fuzzy about him again :)

Actually I just got married 2 days ago!! We met in church! At the time he was in a program there, the pastors youth leader really liked me and wanted us to hook up. But I like my husband now. So the pastor didn't agree that we could be together. So it was difficult. We would write little notes to eachother and go out every now and then. Then the pastor became sour, and sent him away for 2 years. Now he is finally with me and were finally married with nobody to get in our way!!

I met him at the local bar while I was dating someone else. Caught my current bf with another woman and went off. He tried to knock me around then ran out of the bar and my (now) hubby went after him and proceeded to tell him if he ever laid a hand on me again he would regret it. Then come back and took me to his place, where he was living with a couple of friends, where I would be safe. I lived with him for bout 3 months before we started dating, and another 2 months before I would sleep with him. We were married a year later and our 3 year wedding anniversary is coming up in a month.
