Possibly pulled a muscle. It is a common place. Try stretching and a heating pad. Take some motrin for a few days to reduce the swelling. The hot shower will help too.

You must see your doctor. It could be a muscle or something worse. Have you tried Advil and a hot pack? If it's muscle related, the heat will relax the muscles and the pain will go away. Did you injure yourself in anyway? You won't know the answer until you have seen your doctor.

Try stretchig out your back, and rotate your shoulder forward and backwards. Ice the area that has pain, take advil and or tylenol. If the pain persists then go to the doctor's. And how long have you had the pain?

Your muscle is probably bunched up. Have you been writing a lot or have you been really tense lately? Those things could have caused it. The best thing to do is to have a family member or a friend to rub the area for you. Best wishes for fixing it.

i get the too sometimes
its usually caused by depression, not something that you did
so inorder to fix it your are going to have to fix yourself.. emotionally
somehow it is all in the mind but the pain is physical
if that isnt it have a friend press their thumb with a good amount of pressure there and move it around a little.. that could help

You may have slept wrong or you might have something wrong in your back like a pitch nerve. If the pain doesnt go down in a week then go see a docter.

A trip to your doctor.
It sounds like you may have sprained or torn a muscle, but your doctor can give you a better idea what to do... and good painkillers.

i get an aching in my back..not sure if it is the same but i think its just stress and it being very tense... i suggest going to have a massage (colleges are good and cheap but still do the trick) normally helps and a perfect way to go and get pampered =P Xx

Did you injure yourself doing sports or heavy lifting? I read somewhere that pain near your shoulder can be transfered from problems with your gallbladder.

you've probably pulled a muscle. take pain killers, and apply heat. A massage would help, too, if you have someone willing to do it for you.
