After a year or so of fighting with them, and listening to their excuses why their dogs have to bark, we called the local dog control bylaw officer and they said to keep a "barking log". We faithfully recorded every single minute of barking for a month. They had a look at it and called the neighbors and told them that if it didn't stop they would be taken to court and fined. It worked.

That kind of stuff drives me nuts especially when it's in the middle of the night because the owner got liquored up yet again and forgeot to let her barking little brat in.We tried talking to her( which was a mistake) but she was a dumb bimbo who didn't get what the fuss was about. After a solid week of lost sleep from her dogs barking as well as getting chased around & terrorized by that creature because it broke through the fence next door we finally had it and talked to the local sherrifs office. They told us to call animal control which we did and the investigater basically handled it from there. She took down a full report and we showed her photos of the dog running in the middle of the street etc.She advised us of the procedure and gave us a paper to log in everytime the dog barked for more than 15 minutes. She went to the neighbors house and of course the hag refused to answer her door. Animal control left her 2 notes and a citation warning explaining what would happen if she continued to not watch her dog.Things have been better although if I could sell my house and move out of this creepy neighborhood it would be even better.Calling animal control anonymusly is the best thing to do.

first of all has any of you ever watch a dog die from poisoning? Its a horrible act to witness. Some sicko poisoned my dog when I was a kid and she died in minutes. So now I have dogs. My dogs bark when they see something thats not supposed to be there. One of my neighbors yelled, shot me nasty look, called the dog officer on me(which by the way she called on every dog owner within a 3 street area) until one fine day as my dog was barking I happen to notice a person who is not my neighbor climb out of her window. I called the police and they caught my neighbors housekeeper robbing the house. All thanks to my barking dog. So now she just glares at me. If Sharon Tate had a barking dog she might still be alive today.

We have a new home in an absolutely lovely new resort subdivision - surrounded by barking and howling dogs!!! Last night we tried to have a little privacy and peace with our dinner and firepit on our back patio, but NOOOOOO, those GD dogs would not shut up! I mean even at midnight!!!
Do these morons not hear how much noise the damned dogs make? I mean if you presumably love your pet, bring it it the house at night and give people a break.
PS - We have a cat!

My neighbors have them, as in I own the dogs and they are the ones with the neighbors that have the barking dogs. They haven't complained yet. They are awesome barks though the 2 rottwielers are so deep and grrrr and the beagle is howling. It's just too cute, just not at 3-4 in the morningâ¥

Oh my gosh, I've met my internet twin! We've got a nice, older, retired gentleman who is apparently deaf that has a basset hound the size of Egypt. The stupid dog barks for HOURS on end. I sent him a polite note asking him to please bring the dog in when it started barking, but nothing's changed. I'd move, but this could happen anywhere. I don't think he's doing it to be malicious, like I said, I just think he's hard of hearing and oblivious to the whole thing. Post here if you figure out a solution. Good post!

nothing because he acts like my guard dog also. I reside in the back of the house and when people knock or ring the door bell I usually don't hear it, so they walk around the house to my room and tap on the window, well usually the dog barks giving me a heads up.

One: Not the dogs fault......they're dogs......they bark
Two: Complaints can be filed against the owners for allowing the dogs to continually bark without some sort of intervention.
Three: DO NOT THROW DRUG LACED FOOD OVER THE FENCE. IT IS ANIMAL CRUELTY (POISONING) AND ILLEGAL.

One night my husband stood at our bedroom window and barked as loud as he could at the neighbor behind us, his dog would not stop. My husband only had to do it for a minute and they let in the dog (otherwise they just left him out for hours doing it) and since they have been good about letting him in. They got the point.

I confess!!I am that neighbor from hell !!!!!!
My little dogs bark , midnight ...
in conversation with other dogs in the area. ...1am
at passing planes ( we are on a flight path) 1 30am
at passing and very annoying yowling cats 2am
when a car door slams, 2.30..am..
if somebody in the road comes home late .3Am
Or just howling at the moon . 4.15am
i have to come down and tell them to be quiet , very often
They scuttle into thier baskets and like little angels
and they do go to sleep at once!!
they do sleep,----- for a while --- Then ....- OH NO!
i am hollow eyed, from shushing my dogs 7am
but they are fine, after a hearty breakfast !!! 7.30 am
They sleep soundly all day !!!
only to stir themselves , when their supper dish arrives 8.30 pm
They are fast asleep at my feet, as i type this . It is 10pm
I hope you will be patient with me , as my dogs run the show !!!
If i sleep downstairs on the sofa ,with them, will that help you ?
>^,,^<
My dogs are indoor dogs ,always , no drafty kennel for them !!.
