I'd go to the book store and get "Weight Lifting for Dummies". Seriously (and no insult intended). It's great for beginners and is a no-frills approach to learning the ins and outs of weight training. It tells you the do's and dont's and will get you off to a good start.

You may want to hire a trainer -- if you belong to a gym. They can motivate you and get you where you want to go. However, trainers can be costly ($40 a session is not unheard of).

I've never needed one -- mostly I pick up tips from just chatting with people, watching, or one of the many weight lifting magazines that are out there. For women, check out Shape, Fitness or Muscle and Fitness Hers. I think Women's Health magazine probably has some good articles too.

Bottom line, educate yourself before you get to the gym so you don't wind up hurting yourself or wasting time.

Good luck.

Wel age don't even bother mention it. It doesn't matter what matters is that u must start asap. My advice is pay for a personal trainer for a couple of months get the hang of it and do it on your own later on. Go on line for a couple of ideas for workouts and different body parts is easier than u think. Good luck!
